After having learned that the cantonese slang for pale foreigners, pronounced “gweilo”, literally means something close to “white ghost” (although racially charged, there’s some beauty in the translated phrase itself) This gave me the idea of using human character rigs and covering them with dynamic cloth, leaving out the “white” part of the phrase and incorporating it into the compositions instead.
